September EU GPP News Alert features responsible purchasing in Nantes

The September issue of the European Commission's GPP News Alert features a case study on the Responsible Purchasing Promotion Scheme of Nantes Métropole (France). Nantes, which hosts Procura+ participant and regional city network Reseau Grande Ouest (RGO), has identified 11 areas of action in responsible procurement and proposed performance targets to be achieved by 2020.

The scheme translates Nantes' policies into public procurement actions and targets. Several of the 11 areas of action have been developed for GPP, including circular economy, energy transition, organic agriculture and short supply chains. Nantes has a 16-year track record of implementing sustainable public procurement (SPP), from cleaning products to vehicles.

Also featured in Septembers News Alert is new GPP criteria for furniture, GPP and the Circular Economy and an interview with Marie-Amelie Dupraz-Ardiot ofrom the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) on the effect of changes in Swiss procurement law on GPP.
